Hollowland is getting revamped in preparation for my work on the sequel, Hollowmen. I've already began drafting the outline, and I'll hopefully be able to start writing the book in earnest sometime next month.
Hollowland got a new cover today, courtesy of phatpuppart.com (who also did the covers for Lost Without You and Honalee). I'm thrilled with the new cover.
Meanwhile, I've got a small stack of paperbacks with the old cover of the bleeding heart on it. So I'm going to sign them and sell them off. I don't have the paperbacks up with the new cover yet (I'm hoping to work on that later today or tomorrow). But if you want to get your hands on the cover with the heart - now is the time to get it.
UPDATE: I've sold out of the heart paperbacks of Hollowland. Thanks to everybody for bought a copy!

ReplyDeleteThe new cover looks great, Amanda!
ReplyDeleteYou might have a typo above, if phatpuppyart.com did your new cover.
Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to compliment you on your blog. I have been blogging for years but I have just started to write a book and its corresponding blog and find your site very inspirational. Keep up the great work.
I just ordered my copy with the original cover! It will be my first hard copy book of yours. I am very excited by that! And it will have the original cover :D Yay!
ReplyDeleteJust finished reading Hollowland. I don't fit your demographic, but I really liked the book. I was a bit disappointed by the ending; however, as a writer, I can understand why you "left it hanging." Can't wait to read the sequel.
ReplyDeleteAmanda:
ReplyDeleteLove the new cover. The colors really blend to create the mood. Kudos to the artist. I don't think cover artists get enough respect.

That is a really jaw dropping cover! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI hope this will make the book take off on a second life to rival the first. :-)
Have a great weekend!

One More Day: A Modern Ghost Story
Congratulations on your successes, Amanda. Love the new cover!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that you posted a tentative release date for MBA book #5...where have I been??? It's the only thing that has taken me out of my foul mood lately..Congrats on your success! Congrats to Eric for being your new right hand man and thank you for letting us know that you have not given up on MBA #5 as other people have suggested. This great news came at a good time for me. Sincerely, Annie....A Time Warp ringtone user.. =)
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI´m Onlyme from Germany. I´m proud of you, because you seem to be a fighter for yourself and your kind of writing, your vision. Have a lot of fun with it and follow yourself in future. I like your stories very, very much.
onlyme
Outline? Do you outline the whole story ahead of time?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cover. All you're books sound interesting. Hopefully they will be available in Germany one day.
ReplyDeleteThe new cover is very nice, Amanda. It does, however, say "science fiction" to me a bit more than it says "post-apocalyptic zombie novel." And your name being in gray makes it kind of hard to make out.
ReplyDeleteAll that said, still a very nice cover.
How do I get one of your autograph copy Hollowland books with the old cover??? Would love to have one!!!
ReplyDeleteI am interested about the outline as well. I just wrote a blog post where I talked about how even though I had a basic outline for where I wanted a particular chapter to go I didn't have the vision necessary until I was actually writing. Once I was writing I realized that I needed to end the chapter before some events on the outline.
ReplyDeleteI guess my question is: How much of your book is outlined, and how much do you come up with while you're actually writing?
Thanks
I absolutely love this cover. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an interesting book, just might have to read it.
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteI notice the image appears to have changed. The light orange on your name does make it pop better! Yay!
Love the new cover! I liked the old one too!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Loraine, author Royal Blood Chronicles
The new cover is great, can't wait to see what else you have going on.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited!! I can't wait to read it!! Thank you for you fantastic characters!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Hollowland a couple of weeks ago and am so ready for a sequel. It seems like your life has gotten a lot more exciting and complicated. Hopefully, your superhuman fast writing skills will remain intact, tho.
Keep up the good work.

Just bought, and read, the book because of this post. ;) Nice book, fun read. Need to work on your firearms research a little, but that's a nitpick, not a major problem.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading the sequel when it comes out.
I love the new cover!
ReplyDeleteI liked the old cover better....please don't become too commercial because of all the notoriety you're getting. One of the things I like about you is that everything you do feels homemade, including your book covers, it sets you apart.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work,
Martin
Have to say I liked the old cover better. This new one is nice, only like someone before said, a little bit science fiction.
ReplyDeleteStill need to read it, not bought it yet, it's on my list to buy. Would've bought it on a whim, if not for amazon greedy international tax policy making a book of $0.99 three times more expensive.
I guess I'll get the smashwords one, if I've to pay about $3 then I prefer the writer(you) to get the biggest share.
Bytheway the longer I look at the cover the more haunted the girl on the cover looks.
Congratulations on all your success! It's amazing how prolific you are.
ReplyDeleteI like the hip red and black cover more. A guy is much more likely to read the old one.
ReplyDeleteThe new one is Harlequin-esque, minus Fabio.
But, you're the best-selling author. I'm just a lowly male reader with 99 cents burning a hole in my trousers.
LOL
P.S. I notice, even in your comments, that in general, the women like the new cover, and the men like the old.
ReplyDeleteSO, if the target audience is only women, the new cover rules.
If you want young men to buy the book, the new cover will turn them off faster than a prom queen with a zit.
For those curious - I have seen a sales jump since switching covers. I think Coolkayaker1 hit the nail on the head. The old cover was more likely to appeal to men, but a lot of the fans of my other books seemed a bit hesitant to read Hollowland. I think it has the same kind of writing style as my other books, and will appeal to readers of my other books, and I wanted the cover to reflect that.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad so many of you seem to enjoy the new cover. I liked the old cover a lot, too. But I wanted something a bit sexier, and I think this one is. Plus, I love Claudia's work.
I absolutely ADORED "HOLLOWLAND" I am in a bit of a Z-Bee novel phase lately. I got BURNED out on Vampire novels. They all started seeming alike except for an AWESOME one called "The Blood That Bonds" by another author quite like yourself.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I Tweeted him a link to your article about making a million bucks on Amazon last night cuz he is talking about releasing "TBTB" part 2 independently. Oh man..I forgot his last name..Christopher Bucheler? Something like that..
I am eagerly awaiting "Hollowland" 2! I am not even done w/part 1 and was already looking to buy part 2!
I have a few other Z-Bee novels to read in the meantime but still...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE release "Hollowland 2" ASAP..
Is there a place to send copies of the book to have u sign them or are any for sale already signed?
Are u doing any tours?
Thanx for sharing your stories with us all..I APPRECIATE THAT :)
Until later..
Love the cover! I made sure to check out phatpuppart's website when I saw it. I know a lot of people don't like a person on the cover, but I prefer it. It's really eye-catching, and it rarely influences the way I imagine characters.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read your books, but was led to your blog by Kristin Nelson and Nathan Bransford's posts.
Nine novels? And doing your own publicity? You are a very hard worker. Way to go!
that is an amazing cover!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you!!! Hollowland is by far my favorite of your books. I cannot wait for part two!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant book cover..well done!!
ReplyDeleteModem broke 2 weeks ago..I am back on the air waves..or cyber space..hmmm...anyhoo look at all the things I missed out on here due to my bloomin ( politely said) modem and the ...bloomin... telephone company that took 3 phone calls to replace faulty modem...sigh patience it a virtue.
Michelle
p.s. I have Hollowland..must read it..the new cover has inspired me to sit at the pooter for hours in a trance reading it.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Love the cover, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFinished Hollowland about half an hour ago, even though I really don't like the idea of zombies. But I just couldn't resist this book at all. In fact, it may just your books that I can't resist in general.
Good luck on the sequel, I'll be waiting for it.
I hope you get the paperbacks back online soon! I'd like to buy one :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Hollowland and I can't wait for the sequel.
ReplyDeleteCongrats
I have read My Blood Approves series and your Trylle trilogy. I love your writing style, you have a way of captivating your readers. I am not a zombie fan but I took a chance with Hollowland and I fell in love just like your other books. Keep up the awesome work. I love the fact you write because it is your passion and not just as a means for money. Please don't lose that :)
ReplyDeleteI love your books so much the first ones I read was the M blood Approves then I didn't think I would be interested in Trylle trilogy because of the trolls but I loved it as well so I was going to read virtue and I wasn't going to read Hollowland but I got a sample of it on my kindle so I bought it at like 8:30 and stopped reading at like 10:20ish and read Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer then watched about 5 minutes of Eclipse but stopped then at about 11:45 I pick the book up again and finished it all last night I finished at about2:31 I LOVE YOUR BOOK CANT WAIT TILL MBA #5 AND HOLLOWMEN COME OUT KEEP WRITING PLEASE
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLoved Hollowland and Hollowmen, can you tell me if there is a third in the series or is it finished now.
I really hope there is a third as I feel there is so much more that can happen.
Thanks regards carol
DeleteIt is for this reason that Mirror Sunglasses have become popular sunglasses for officers of law enforcement and military. Their popularity with police officers in the
United States has earned them the nickname "cop shades". Much like an interrogation room, a suspect is unnerved by looking into a window and being unable to see who or what is looking back at him. It is also for this reason that Mirror Sunglasses are often favored by competitive poker players.
